Mentoring for Nursing Excellence: Turning Everyday Mentoring into Magnet Evidence

Diverse group of smiling nurses in a hospital corridor

Magnet designation lasts four years, and every cycle starts with written evidence. In many hospitals the mentoring is strong, but the record of it is thin.

In this session, Jodi Petersen, VP of Healthcare Strategy & Growth at Chronus, shares how Magnet and Pathway to Excellence organizations structure nurse mentoring along the career ladder, and how a Magnet reporting dashboard, currently in development, will turn everyday mentoring into evidence an appraiser can use.

What you’ll learn

  • Mentoring along the career ladder: how to give each stage, from new graduate to nurse leader, a clear purpose and a mentor who fits it
  • Structure that nurses actually use: a look inside a guided, nursing-specific mentoring session
  • Less time on documentation: how AI Goal Setter and AI Notetaker capture each session’s goals and outcomes, so nurses aren’t writing up notes afterward
  • Evidence at your fingertips: a first look at the Magnet reporting dashboard, covering relationship checklists, participation by unit, competency summaries and Sources of Evidence exports
